Lysine Overproduction by S. cerevisiae – A Myth Buster

K S Karthikeyan, K. Sivarama Sastry, M. Rajender, M. Shilpa

Abstract

Contrary to popular belief that yeast can be used for the industrial production of basic amino acid lysine. This work has totally disproved and has shown that only Corynebacterium glutamium – which is the standard organism used for many years – is the best organism.
