Relationship between Evolution and Mass Extinction

Saurav Majumdar

Abstract

Evolution is the process of inhibiting changes in the inherited characteristic traits of living beings. It gives rise to diversity and causes variation in living organisms. Mass extinction is also a gradual event that has a sudden burst out result. It can also be explained as an event which gets triggered when a long-term pressure bursts due to a sudden dramatic pulse. It has a catastrophic effect on the total biotic world and results in dying of more than 50% percent of the world’s total living population of animals and trees.
