Cost-Effective Procedure of Agarose Gel Recycling
Abstract
Agarose gel electrophoresis is a commonly used technique in various areas of biotechnology. This pretentious but specific analytical procedure is used in research, biomedical, and forensic laboratories. Agarose gel recycling is a realistic approach for molecular genetic studies. Reuse of agarose gel for daily routine experiments to save money due to limited financial resources for research. This practice satisfies a need to control expenses. Recycled agarose can be used for the examination of genomic DNA, PCR-RFLP analysis, or other applications in which no further manipulation of the DNA is necessary. Here, we report a simple but improved recycling method, which is comparatively similar to fresh agarose gel.
