Studies on Phytochemical analysis of Coriandrum sativum Leaves

Abstract


Coriandrum sativum is belongs to Apiaceae family includes the annual plant coriander. It can be said that nature is the world's oldest and most complete pharmacy, and many traditional medical systems. The use of phytomedicines, particularly for preventive measures, is currently gaining popularity. The use of alternative and complementary healthcare is commonplace worldwide. The most recent data estimates that about 80% of the world's population uses herbs as their primary source of traditional medicine. In food preservation, medicines, complementary medicine, and natural cures, aromatic herbs and spices' essential oils and extracts have been employed for centuries. This plant contain various phytochemicals and shows various pharmacological properties. In this research work, studies on various phytochemicals from coriandrum leaves through qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. In qualitative analysis, we are added various chemical reagent to observe the colour for phytochemical analysis. In quantitative analysis, ethanol and water solvents are performed for extraction of TPC, TTC and TFC from leaves. Water solvent is shows best result for extraction of total phenolic content and it found to be 18µg/ml. Ethanol solvent is shows best result of total flavonoid content and it is found to be 21µg/ml. Water solvent is shows best result for extraction of total tannin content and it found to be 20µg/ml.
