Abstract

Fungi are fabulous plants of the plant kingdom; they are typical chlorophyll less organisms, and they lack the photosynthetic potential for nutritionial purposes. They depend on other organisms as parasites or as saprophytes. They have been classified in various ways; some of the most acceptable classes of fungi are the lower fungi or the higher fungi. They include Ascomycetes , Basidiomycetes, Deuteromycetes and Zygomycetes. Fungi harbour all kinds of habitast in nature. They can be found in soil, water , air and other habitast such as vegetables or fruits. The fungi are integral parts of soil microflora. ,Several kinds of nutrient cycling depends on fungi and thei interaction with nature-- , whether it is interaction with other organisms or interaction with metals . In this research article we are trying to show the fungal diversity of soil in one of the plant rich areas of the Alwar district of Rajasthan. The region is termed as the Pratap band region and the area is full of vegetation. The soil is fertile here and it is full of many kinds of microbes. We found several genera of fungi such as members of DBasidiomycetes , Zygomycetes and some members of the lower fungi groups . The presence of several kinds of fungi in the soil of this region makes the soil more fertile and it is suitable for the growth of several plants and trees.

Keywords: Basidiomyceets, Deuteromycetes, photosynthetic potential, Zygomycetes.
