Word Knowledge in Persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment
Abstract
Word knowledge in persons with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) was investigated in the present study. The study was carried out on 20 participants including 10 with MCI and 10 with normal aging. Word knowledge was tested through lexical decision task. The testing was carried out in two phases (the second phase was carried out after five and half months after phase 1). Participants with normal aging outperformed persons with MCI. The difference between the scores yielded a significant difference. Scores obtained by the participants on phase 1 and phase 2 were also compared. A statistically significant difference was not seen for MCI group showing that all participants with MCI may not essentially regress to dementia.
