Production and Extraction of Bioethanol from Agricultural Waste

Seema Dwivedi, Gyanendra Singh

Abstract

Rapid elevation in population and industrialization results in the global demands of ethanol worldwide. Crops such as corn and sugarcane sufficiently cannot meet the global problems of ethanol production because of their primary value of food and feed. Hence, lignocellulosic materials like agricultural wastes are a good source for bioethanol production. Agricultural wastes are renewable, economical and there availability is higher. Bioethanol from agricultural wastes is an effective advance technology yet this technology has certain demerits like biomass transport and handling and effective pretreatment methods for total delignification of lignocellulosic. The strength of fermentable sugar after enzymatic saccharification which aids in improving the effectiveness of entire procedure can be boosted by the effectual pretreatment approaches. Modern fermentation technology is applied for transformation of xylose as well as glucose to ethanol. In this review, new and innovative techniques for the production of bioethanol from agricultural wastes are expressed.
