In-vitro genotoxic effects of Nicotian glauca alcoholic extract on cultures of human lymphocytes

Abstract


ABSTRACT

The present investigation is to disclosing the capability of Nicotiana glauca alcoholic extract in inducing mutation in human lymphocyte bioassay. Whole blood lymphocytes were cultured In vitro using a stander protocol and the treatment with five different concentrations of N. glauca alcoholic extract 5, 20, 60, 100, 200 µg/ml. Our results showed significantly in c-metaphase cells number as the concentration increase. Chromosomal aberrations (ChA) were significantly high in all treatments which included gaps, deletion, breaks, fragments, sticky metaphase. The percentage of ChA was concentration dependent.
