Stem Cells: A Brief Review

Abstract


Stem cells are described by their capability for self-renewal and ability to differentiate into specialized cell types. Formation and maintenance of the integrity & function of the body in the embryonic stage and its organs in post-natal life are all processes which involve stem cells. These cells have the ability to maintain homeostasis throughout the lifetime of the organism. This article is a brief review on stem cells and their different types.
