Usage of Genetic Engineering Practices in Animal Breeding: A Review

Gaurav Khandelwal, Akanksha Marwah

Abstract

being used by scientists/researchers to transform the genetic material (DNA/RNA) of an organism, thereby, bringing the desired change in it. This can be achieved by using several techniques, such as, by transfection, using retroviral vectors, transposons, and knock-in and knock-out technology, etc. It has various applications in breeding of animals, which enables the production of genetically modified species that can be used to produce various novel proteins, which are useful in different fields, such as, human medicine and agriculture. This review gives a brief introduction regarding different applications of genetic engineering in animal breeding.
Keywords: Genetic engineering, animal breeding,

Keywords
