Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): A Review

Sreeremya Sasi

Abstract

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a recently developing technique in the field of developmental biology. The rationale behind artificial insemination is increasing the gamete density at the site of fertilization. Since many centuries diverse pioneers added to the historical backdrop of manual sperm injection, not only in humans but even more pronounced in farm animals. The primary reason for using this technique in farm animals is to speed up the rate of genetic improvement by increasing the productivity of food producing animals. This review paper provides an insight about the prominence of ICSI technique.
