Effect of Drought Stress on Morphological Characteristics in Plants- II

Riva Mathur

Abstract

Drought conditions significantly affect the growth and development of plants. Various metabolic functions in plants are also reduced due to such conditions, such as reduction in plant pigments- chlorophyll and carotenoids and alterations in the expression of certain proteins. This is a brief review on various effects of drought stress on different morphological characteristics in plants.

Keywords

carotenoids, chlorophyll content, crop productivity, drought stress, protein profiling
