Prediction of Functional Parameters of Vegetable Stem Solid Waste Degradation Using Taylor’s Variable Model

Chukwu ., Ebenezer O ., Ukpaka C.P.

Abstract

Mathematical model was developed to monitor, predict and simulate the functional parameters of vegetable stem solid waste degradation using Taylor’s variable model. Data obtained from the experimental research work was transformed and resolved using Laplace transformation upon the degradation of vegetable stem solid waste. The specific rate of vegetable stem solid waste, maximum specific rate and the disassociation constant rate were evaluated in terms Michaeli’s Menten and Linear method using the Line Weaver Burk Plot to determine the functional parameters. The prediction of functional parameters was determined achieved by applying a direct experimental method and the results obtained revealed that PH increases and decreases as well as the concentration obtained undergoes degradation upon the influence of period of exposure. Finally, the kinetic model equation developed in this research work can be found useful in monitoring and predicting the degradation of vegetable stem solid waste in an anaerobic reactor.
