Milia – A Review

S. Sreeremya

Abstract

A milium (milia) is called with diverse names like milk spot or an oil seed. Milia are very common in babies yet can happen at any age. Milia are most generally observed on a child's nose, chin or cheeks; however, they may also occur in other areas, such as on the upper trunk and limbs. Milia are tiny white bumps that typically appear across a baby’s nose, chin or cheeks. Milia occur when dead skin becomes trapped in small pockets at the surface of the skin or mouth. Adults may develop milia on the face. The bumps and cysts generally occur on parts of the body that are swollen (inflamed) or injured.
